Hope Solo being dragged out of the car during arrest
Former US women's soccer goalkeeper Hope Solo had to be pulled from her car when she was arrested for driving under the influence earlier this year according to a police video.
On March 31, 2022 Solo was found unconscious in a Walmart parking lot in North Carolina with his 2-year-old twins at the wheel. He was also charged with child abuse and refusal to represent.
footage obtained by Queen City News was found on body cameras of Police officers in Winston-Salem on the day of the incident. Solo admitted he did not appear paranoid when a police officer but approached his window. In that situation I got a call.
Solo said he stopped for a nap because he was tired.
Officers smelled alcohol in the car and were suspected of being drunk, angering Solo and arguing with other men and officers who arrived at the scene. Solo refused to get out of the vehicle forcing officers to grab his arm to pull him out.
The 40-year-old woman pleaded guilty to DWI in July and was sentenced to 24 months of probation and a 30-day sentence, the Forsyth County Prosecutor's Office said in a statement at the time.
He was given 30 days credit for time spent in an inpatient rehab center and ordered to pay a $2,500 fine and a $600 probationary fee.
He was asked to undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete all recommended treatments.
After the disciplinary hearing, Solo issued a statement.
Easily the worst mistake of my life. I think alcohol is ruining my life he says. The best thing about making big mistakes is learning difficult lessons quickly. Learning this lesson is difficult and sometimes painful.
This is not the first time Solo has broken the law. A two-time Olympic gold medalist in Washington State in 2014 she was arrested along with her sister and nephew in a domestic violence case. However, after a lengthy appeal process the charges were withdrawn in 2018.
Solo played for the US national team from 2000 to 2016 participating in the 2015 World Cup triumph and winning Olympic gold medals in Beijing 2008 and London 2012. He was a member of the team when the team won silver and bronze medals at the 2011 and 2007 World Championships respectively.
He left the national team after the 2016 Rio Olympics. He was suspended by America. 6 months of football after the defeat against Sweden.
